The Department of Anaesthesiology at M.G.M. Medical College & M.Y. and Associated Hospitals, Indore has consistently delivered comprehensive anaesthesia services since the hospital's establishment. It attained independent departmental status in 1971 under the leadership of Dr. N.S. Ahluwalia. Currently we have 19 faculties, 5 senior residents and 28 postgraduates. The department upholds a distinguished legacy of excellence in patient care, education, and training.
The department provides continuous, round-the-clock anaesthesia coverage to an extensive array of surgical disciplines, including General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, ENT, Ophthalmology, Paediatric Surgery, Neurosurgery, Oncosurgery, Maxillofacial and Endoscopic surgeries, in addition to Accident and Emergency services. Furthermore, it is responsible for post-anaesthesia care, acute pain services and labour pain management and In-hospital resuscitation services across various locations. Anaesthesia support is also extended to peripheral treatment areas such as ECT and radiotherapy Suites.
The Pre-anesthetic clinic and the Pain clinic operate from Monday to Saturday, between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. In total, the department manages 27 Operation theatre tables. Academic activities encompass UG teaching, MD postgraduate programs, BLS and ACLS training, and active contribution to state and national conferences.
