The Department of Community Medicine at MGM Medical College, Indore, is built on the principle that ‘Prevention is better than Cure’. The Department's mission is to provide students undergoing MBBS, MD, BPT and BOT programs a holistic understanding of health, focusing on its preventive, promotive, rehabilitative, and social aspects.

Using interactive methods like lectures, field visits, role plays, and awareness rallies, the department provides a practical education. Students visit not only healthcare facilities such as Anganwadis and Primary Health Centres but also other community sites like Old Age Homes, Blind Schools, and Water & Sewage Treatment Plants.

This comprehensive training prepares future doctors to be effective policymakers and public health leaders who can deliver services at the grassroot level.The Department is also involved in researches and train academicians to advance community health.
